Overview

We are currently recruiting a Quality / Technical Professional who has experience of writing internal and external specifications.  Our client is a food manufacturer based in South Somerset who are experiencing fast company growth due to consumer demand.  The company is re-branding this year and plans to accelerate the rate of growth significantly over the coming years.  The site in Somerset is BRC AA accredited. This role would suit an individual who is willing to grow with the business.

 

The Role

Reporting into the Technical Manager, you will work within a dynamic team and have responsibility for ensuring that food products meet standards set by both the company and regulatory authorities. You will also be responsible for coordinating the activities required to meet the quality standards of the Company and customers within production and assist in the implementation and monitoring of BRC and customers' requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Specifications creation and updates.
  • Completion of Customer Specifications.
  • Assist on the development of QAS.
  • Assist on traceability and Mass Balance Exercises.
  • Assist on Complaints investigation and response to customer.
  • Paperwork completion and supervision.
  • Metal Detector checks.
  • Scales Calibration, when required.
  • Weight checks, when required.
  • Product quality checks.
  • Collection of samples for quality control and shelf life.
  • Organoleptic testing, including Shelf Life.
  • Enforce GMP, H&S and Hygiene practices across production areas.
  • Assist in the enforcement of Food Safety Culture.
  • Perform designated internal audits.
  • Perform Machine inspections after cleaning, repairs and PPM.
  • Report weekly to the technical manager data collected.
  • ATP, Environmental and Ph testing performance might be required.
  • Temperature control checks, if required.

 

The Person

  • Previous experience working in the food industry, with a particular emphasis on specification writing.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food quality and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and CCP’s.
  • Good understanding of allergens control.
  • Desirable good understanding of BRC and M&S standards.
  • Good understanding of H&S & GMP.
  • Food Safety Supervision Training preferable.
  • Able to perform various specified duties to a high standard.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active, good attention to detail and logical thinking.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a supportive attitude.
  • Food qualification or experience desirable.

This role would suit; Specifications Technologist, Specifications Writer, Specs Tech, QA, Quality Auditor, Technical Assistant, Quality Supervisor, Technical Officer.
